Like every other nomadic culture, Mongolian culture is well-known for its hospitality. Upon guests’ arrival, traditional offerings and treats are served - dairy products in the summer, and meat in the winter. Traditionally a Mongolian, even during his absence, will leave his ger unlocked, in order to allow any passer-by to rest and enjoy the treats which are left on the table for visitors.
A very special way to discover the lifestyle and traditions of the Mongols is to homestay a few days with nomadic families. On our homestay tours, you will take an active part in the daily life of nomadic families, joining them as they graze their herds, milk the animals, produce dairy products and carry out any number of other day-to-day chores. We may arrive as families making felt for their ger covering, or gathering fuel for winter, or engaged in some other special project, in which case extra hands are always very welcome. We will learn Mongolian nomads' unique way of life and join them for very traditional meals.
Homestay tours can be arranged for you as standalone tours or added to another tour of your choice. Rest assured, our home stay tours will bring you much closer nomadic families and their lifestyle.
