Camel Trekking in the Gobi
The Gobi Desert is a real no-man’s land, Among the vast sand dunes and the open steppes live Mongolia’s most resourceful nomads – camel herder’s families. The Bactrian camel, so named by Alexander the Great who discovered them in the Kingdom of Bactria, has been used for thousands of years as the main means of transportation over the Silk Road. Today, herders still use camels as a primary means of transport, carrying goods and sometimes the ger – their traditional felt covered homes. Travelling across the vast desert, riding on the back of a camel, you will have the opportunity to experience first hand the unique sights of the Great Gobi and to meet the welcoming families of the desert.
